For a bug, it’s handy being yellow and black. Folk stay away, thinking you’re a bee or a wasp. That’s just what I thought it was, a wasp, but sitting nice and quietly enough to get a picture. But when I uploaded the picture, I saw it was a bug, a long-horned beetle, that is.
Turns out it’s a locust borer, and a handsome looking pest it is. While the adults feed on goldenrod, they lay their eggs in Black Locust trees, enough to kill the tree.
This is all interesting, but I can’t recall seeing any Black Locust tree around here. Where did you come from little bug, and where are you going?
