It’s getting euonymous up there

The Amateur Naturalist was tramping on a hill,
On a sunny fall day when the bees are buzzing still.
Such a bright red bush has escaped from the weeds,
And familiar looking fruits reveal its identity.

Burning Bush, that is. Euonymous alata. The Winged Wahoo.

Site after site warns of its invasive powers
They scorn it for having such inconspicuous flowers.
They say plant viburnum and lots of blueberries
Well, I have worse things tangling under the trees.

Swallow-wort, that is. Ragweed. Pokeweed.
