A beauty only crust deep

First challah of the year

So here’s my first challah of the year. It’s getting better. Hardly perfect, though.

I can make a nice looking bread. I can make a lovely tasting bread. I’m just not quite there when it comes to properly risen bread.

But I’m getting closer. I learned how to work the dough properly so it’s easier to manage. I learned not to draw the braids tight so the crumb doesn’t get tough. I think I just need to have more patience when the dough is rising.
