
I’ve had mixed luck feeding goldfinches with fresh nyjer seed. The main problem is the feeder holds far more seed than the birds will eat. I think I finally have a solution.

We cracked a pill bottle down its side and halfway across its bottom so we can wedge into the middle of the feeder. That way, it keep a smaller amount of seed pressed against the sides.
It’s working pretty well so far. The first batch of seed got eaten — by not by goldfinches.
They’ll find it.
