Unintentional flatbread

Very sad bread

I was not trying to bake a ciabatta. Or naan. Or a flying saucer. But that’s what I got. Dang, that is one ugly loaf of bread.

At least it’s not nearly as bricklike as it looks. The crumb is actually nice and spongy. It just has no loft. Arg. This is so frustrating; I feel like I’m learning how to bake bread all over again.

But hey. There’s nowhere to go but up, right?
