Is it just me, or is there some sort of poetry offensive going on?
There’s a book by a David Orr attempting to encourage people to read contemporary poetry that I’ve heard at least two interviews about. Poetry got the Colbert Bump when Stephen and Caroline Kennedy recited poetry. I even heard Judith Viorst read some amusing poems in this old interview on Wired For Books.
Because if it’s just the reticular activating system being primed to notice poetry, that gives me the dreadful feeling that soon I will be tempted to commit a crime against verse.
