Tulips today, bumblebees tomorrow?

Spring continues to proceed. The sun continues to shine. The first tulips are open, inviting bees to come visit. But do they?

Dandelion in the dirt

Today’s new flower is this dandelion. It’s such a bright yellow I don’t want to dig it up. Besides, it’s a flower; bees need flowers right now.

Hi, Herbs!

Here’s my first impulse buy of plants for the year. From left to right: thyme, parsley, cilantro, scallions, and pansies. You can’t see it, but the garlic I planted last fall is sprouting behind them. More greenery!

Water drop water drop

The rain, rain went away. It’s wet, wet outside. There’s water, water everywhere And not a drop will leaf.

What’s with all this rain?

It’s pouring again. Again. So I’m ignoring the rain again and showing more plants sprouting. These are Dicentra, probably the Bleeding Hearts. Not quite as charming as trains of little pink hearts, but I like the deep red color and the tiny folded fans of the leaves.

It’s sunny! It’s spring!

It was such a sunny day I saw two honeybees searching for more flowers this afternoon. One of them buzzed my ear, but that was the closest I got. So for a picture, here’s a beautiful bee from another blog in my neighborhood. This kind of extreme weather I like!
