The earth is wearing green

That rain was good for lots of things. Tulips sprouting. Daylilies sprouting. Groundcovers coming back. It’s good for lots of green.

Ignore the deluge

It’s wet out there today. As in repeated flood warnings wet. So here’s a few snowdrops from a few sunny days ago. I hope the snowdrops are enjoying the rain. They can have it.

Plum bud jam

We’ve been getting some nicer weather lately, fine sunny days, scorching hot, up in the 50s, even. So it was time to climb up the hill and see what we’ve got.

Crocus are up

Ah! I love the sight of crocus in the afternoon. It looks like spring.

Snow? No. Snowdrops

It snowed this morning. Then it stopped. Then it snowed again. Then it stopped. Then it snowed really hard. Then it stopped. And it melted. And the sun came out. But wait! The sky clouded over. The wind blew. It was freaking cold out! Do the snowdrops care?

More winter greenery

Once again the snow has receded, beaten back by savage wind and rain, and more sprouts pop up their greenness. The alpine strawberries have a new outpost.

Struggling orchids

Well, this doesn’t look great, but it doesn’t look as bad as I thought. I guess this is as open and as upright as it’s going to get. Keep trying, orchids!

Beware of lurking crocus

Spring is sneaking up on us. Under the old, dry leaves, From the cold, hard ground, Out of the round, hidden bulbs, Crocus will poke us.

Awaited snowdrops

Snowdrops! That was quick! These are actually on a slightly more snow-covered patch of ground. But they’re up. Snowdrops!
