Meanwhile, my one tomato plant, Early Girl, has cluster after cluster of sweet nuggets that get redder by the hour. And the volunteer tomato is nearly ready for a taste test. I see lots of salsa in the near future.
Of course, I don’t know if you should believe me.
Remember the giant bumblebee? Wrong! It’s an Eastern carpenter bee. Aside from the supersize, it’s not fuzzy all over like a real bumblebee. Those smoky wings are pretty distinctive, too. I guess I shouldn’t feel so dumb; I discovered I’m not exactly the first one to think it’s a huge bumblebee. And it’s a gorgeous bee.
Anyway. How are your tomatoes doing?
Writing Every Day 
My tomatoes have been slow this year, because it’s been a cool, cool summer. After they die down, I’ll dig more compost and such into their bed, and plant ’em earlier next year.
I’m hoping the Allium triquetrum bulbs that have been dormant during the summer will give me some good leaves at the end of September.

I looked up your Allium. Interesting. I have lots of grape hyacinth poking up leaves, but they’re not at all edible, just messy looking.
