It turns out one of the bees that has been cruising the yard has been cruising the yard looking for dates.
He’s even bigger than a bumblebee. His big black shiny butt tells me he’s a Carpenter bee, and the yellow spot on his face tells me he’s a male. He’s hovering and buzzing (LOUDLY) around the same area that was a popular hangout for Carpenter bees last summer. These bees are getting an early start.
