Since we don’t have enough undrinkable water coming from the tap, I bought a rain barrel. That way I’m more than ready for Day 3 and counting in the Great Boston Boil Order of 2010. I was so clever, I placed the order over a week ago and picked it up last Wednesday.
The rain barrel is pretty clever in its simplicity. You stick it under a cut-off downspout. It gathers water through a louvered screen. You tap by the hose attached to the bottom. If it gets full, you let the overflow out from the tap at the top. It’s so simple, the company doesn’t even ship it (the cost would be outrageous). Instead you place an order and pick it up in your town.
I can hardly wait for some good rain.
