Whereas I saw a honeybee today, as it cruised along checking out the crocuses;
Whereas last year in November or maybe even December I stuck a few cloves of garlic in the ground, and they too are coming up;
Whereas the compost tumblers I filled last fall have cooked down their contents to a third the volume;
Whereas it was a beautiful mild day and the warmest day of the week;
I declare today, March 18, the first real day of spring 2009 in Boston.
