June in Review

I can’t believe I made to the end of June without skipping a day in the blog. Sorry about writing so much about bees and weeds. There’s so much getting away from me, just in my own backyard. No, I’m not sorry. I like the bees. And the bold chickadee who stared right at me. If I’m not having fun with this, what’s the point?

What’s more, I seem to be getting better at writing posts others are willing to read. Since a lot of blogging seems to obsess over getting “hits” in your statistics, here’s what I’ve learned this month about doing that.

How to get a lot of hits:

• Write an interesting (if hastily written) post and cite lots of high-traffic sites.

How to get a gratifying number of hits:

• Write about the Hugos.
• Write about stories you like that were overlooked by award mongers.
• Write about writing.
• And don’t whine about how hard it is to write.
